CPNB campaign

A lot of fathers in The Netherlands don’t read bedtime stories. That is a shame because research shows it increases children’s vocabularies by 1000 words every year. But, as you may remember yourself, many fathers make up stories before bedtime. So CPNB gives fathers the chance to turn these made up stories into a book. Famous Dutch author Jacques Vriens turnes the best made up story into a real bedtime story. Making Dutch dads read more to their children.

For this campaign I worked wih Lemz. I took care of designing the images.

Idea and campaign: Lemz
Illustrator: Tineke Meirink

Client: De Leescoalitie / CPNB Mascha Ravelli

Dans la rue

Today my book ‘Dans la rue’ hit the French bookstores! It is published by the young French publisher ‘Le Diplodocus’. The book stimulates ‘young kids (and probably also adults) imagination by looking at the world around them in a different way. It is based on my project ‘Stop:watch’.

I am so thrilled and I absolutely love the look and feel of the book!

You can order it online here.

In the paper!

Today an interview in local newspaper ‘Dagblad van het Noorden’ is published.

You can read the article online here
You do have to register, but it’s for free.
And if you do you’ll get a nice bonus! You’ll get to see two short films in which you see me illustrating some photos the journalist brought with her. Here and here. See for yourself if I succeeded.

Enjoy! XTineke.

(I’m sorry it is only available in Dutch).

Stop:watch anniversary!

Hip hip hooray! Stop:watch is 3 years online!

As you might know, Stop:watch is an ongoing project by me, Tineke. Let me tell you how it all started.

It originally starts off as a joke. I already painted (and I still do) on worn wood, using old nails, stains and stuff on the wood in the image I paint. To practice my digital skills I decide to do the same thing on photos in Photoshop (instead of paint on wood). I take pictures of rubbish, stains, irregularities and draw on them digitally. A crack in the wall turns into stairs, a dirty tissue suddenly is a ballerina. The apparently uninteresting images get a whole new meaning by the illustration added. They come to life. I post them on Twitter. After many nice comments I start a blog in april 2011 with the impossible name, later changed to
(Thank you Liesbeth Strik!)

Stop:watch now

Now, 3 years later, Stop:watch is more than a joke. Worldwide people write about it (read it all here), for Dutch Noorderzon Performing Arts Festival an app is made, a memorygame ‘Can You See What I See’ is published (by BiS Publishers) and in november 2012 I work on a campagne for Samsung France in Paris.

It’s just more fun when you take a closer look

Here, on this website, I try to post a new set of photos every week (I really try!);
I post the original photo and the illustrated one. So you can see what I see. And I hope it makes you realize that there is beauty and inspiration everywhere. In a door handle, in a chimney, even in dog pooh. If you just take the time to take a closer look (maybe in case of dog pooh not too close) you’ll have so much fun.

let’s celebrate and have a good time

Because of the 3 year anniversary a new website is launched today, the 15th of April.
(Thank you Jeroen Smeets!)
And you also will get nice extra’s when you order something in the shop (15-25 April).
I thank you all very much for taking the time to take a closer look at my work all these years.

Hope to stay in touch. XTineke.

Reprint memorygame

I’m very pleased to tell you that there is a reprint available of the Memorygame ‘Can You See What I See’! It’s got a brand new coverdesign by Lilian van Dongen Torman which I’m very pleased with. Congrats to you three! You can take a closer look at the photos on the Stop:watch Facebookpage
(If you like you can also like the page) Tomorrow I will post my creations on the mainpage of the website.
In the meantime, I am very curious what you see…XTineke.

Your photo, my drawing?

Hi everybody,

Once in a while I get mailed by people who send me a photo of a tree, some food, a rock…all kinds of things, in which they see something. Last december Jari Perho send me a picture and asked if I could draw something on it. I thought it was a nice idea and I decided to actually do something with these photos.

What I’ll do: on february the 13th I will post 3 ‘fanphotos’ on my Facebookpage. On Valentines Day, february the 14th, I will post the photos + drawings on that same page. The ones who get picked will receive their photo+drawing-file via mail in high res. The photos that I have received already automatically join.

If you’d like to join, make sure I receive your photo(s) in highest resolution possible before february 6th (

Stop:watch in Adformatie

The campaign for Samsung I worked on, was mentioned in Adformatie, a Dutch magazine on media and advertising. Very pleased with that!

More here.

Samsung digital billboards

If you happen to be in Paris during the holidays, you might bump into these Samsung Galaxy Note II digital billboards. This is a spin-off from the online campaign I showed earlier here.

Take a closer look at the animations below:

A pity I’m not in Paris right now, because my drawings are now to be seen in THE PARISIAN METRO!!! These billboards are part of the campaign for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note II in France. If you happen to be in France and see one of the billboards, I’d absolutely love it if you could take a picture and send it to me. For this same campaign a short film was made. You can check it here.

Samsung Mobile France campaign

This is what I’ve been working on the last weeks: a campaign for Samsung Mobile France to launch the Samsung Galaxy Note II in France. I had a blast in Paris and I learned so many things working with Heaven Agency, La Bande Originale and Caleb Krivoshey.

For me it was a great experience. Hope you enjoy the results of it.

Stop:watch in Paris

Hi everybody!

There’s bad news and there’s good news.
The bad news is I’m busy, really busy at the moment. So the blog is being shamelessly neglected.
I’m really sorry about that.
The good news is, I’ve spent a lot of time in Paris lately and the cause of it all is Stop:watch! You can expect some nice things in the near future. Let’s say round the 15th of november.
I’ll try to upload new work next week. XTineke.

Art- and poetryroute

On the 8th of June art- and poetryroute ‘Kunst aan de Scheene’ is opened. Stop:watch is also part of this lovely initiative which can be seen till the 24th of June. The route is in Scherpenzeel (Friesland, NL). My work is combined with poetry by Ingmar Heytze. I absolutely love the combination of poetry and art in this picturesque environment. So if you have a chance to visit (best by bike) I’d say you’d give it a go!
